Israel plans to invest $6.13 million in education of Arabs to work in the hi-tech industry

Jerusalem the 11th of August : Israel has announced the funding of 20 million shekels ($6.13 million) to fund training programs which can assist for the Arab population for the high-tech sector in Israel.
The money will be provided in grants to companies in the Arab-Israeli market to cover up to 70 percent of their expenses in creating innovative programs and models to increase the number of highly skilled Arab human capital into the Israeli high-tech sector the Ministry of Economy and Industry stated in an announcement on Wednesday.

These grants will be granted through the Ministry’s Directorate General of Labor and the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) It said.

The IIA and the Directorate accordingly urged companies employers, associations and associations to facilitate the expansion of Arab people to Israel’s highly-knowledge-based business, Xinhua news agency reported.

Israeli Arabs comprise nearly 21 percent of the total population in Israel however, the percentage of Arabs in all high-tech workers is only 2 to 3 percent according to the IIA.

Integration of Arab professionals into the world of high-tech is in line with the need for economic growth as well as the goals of the government’s employment plan for 2030, it said.

“The Arab society in Israel has tremendous potential and integration into the Israeli economy in general, and the hi-tech sector in particular is key to reducing social disparities and growing the economy sustainably,” IIA CEO Dror Bin was quoted as saying.
