According to Xinhua, all four airlines stated that Omicron cases were among their staff and were driving cancellations.This was according to a USA Today report on Sunday.

Derek Dombrowski, spokesperson for JetBlue was quoted saying that there has been an increase in sick calls to JetBlue due to Omicron.

This is despite the fact that JetBlue entered the holidays season with some of the best staffing levels since the outbreak.

Derek Walls, spokesperson for American Airlines said that the airline was working hard to quickly rebook customers.

Maddie King, spokesperson for United said that the airline is also trying to book as many passengers as possible and get them on the road to their holidays.

According to FlightAware (a flight tracker website), more than 6 000 flights were cancelled worldwide on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

This included approximately 1,700 domestic and international flights.

According to The Wall Street Journal, US airlines have requested that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reduce isolation times for Cvid-19-infected people.

This was done in an attempt to avoid flight cancellations and staff shortages.
