After being convicted in 2018 on graft charges, Khaleda Zia (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) supremo is currently prohibited by a court to travel overseas.

According to the party, she was admitted to Dhaka’s hospital earlier in the month as her health deteriorated.

As thousands of protestors demanded that the government allow the former premier to travel abroad for treatment, the Bangladesh police used tear gas.

Organisers of the BNP said that a protest was held Monday outside Dhaka’s National Press Club.It attracted a number activists and supporters.Police put the number at about 7,000.

According to IANS, about 20 journalists and 3 journalists were hurt in Natore’s northern district when BNP activists clashed against police trying to stop a procession.

An inspector said this Wednesday.

He said that BNP activists had thrown rocks at police officers, who fired tear gas (rubber bullets), from shotguns to disperse the group.

Last week, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina dodged a journalist’s question about Khaleda’s treatment abroad.

Hasina stated that she did everything possible to help Khaleda Zia, even though her husband Zia was an assassin and was involved in the assassination case against my father and the 10 truck arms trade case.

The law will now decide the next course.

“I have managed to keep Khaleda Zia at home, not in jail, using whatever law I have.”

Khaleda was sentenced in February 2018 to 10 years imprisonment for two graft-related charges.

She was released in March 2013.

She was the only inmate at Bakshibazar, an old jail in Bakshibazar, old city of Dhaka.Since then, she has been banned from flying abroad.
