Berlin, November 23rd : .German households have lowered their monthly consumption in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the Federal Statistical Office.According to Xinhua, the average monthly household expenditure in Germany fell to slightly more than 2,500 Euros ($2,810).
The biggest decline in spending on accommodation and catering services was by 35% compared with the prior year.
Education saw the second largest decline, with Germans spending 29% less.
Destatis stated that German consumers have shifted their focus to home and more interior furniture, in part due to Covid-19 lockdowns.
Destatis reports that home products saw the greatest growth, with households spending an average 160 euro per month on these items in 2018, which is around 13% more than the 2019 year prior to the pandemic.
