Madras Bar Assn calls on SC Collegium not to transfer CJ

S.Chennai, Nov 14, : .The Madras Bar Association passed Sunday a resolution asking the Supreme Court collegium reconsider the transfer of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee to the Madras High Court and Justice T.S.Sivagnanam.
It also requested the Central government to remit the recommendation of the collegium in respect of Banerjee’s transfer for fresh consideration, following the procedure contemplated under Memorandum of Procedure for Transfer of Chief Justice of a High Court.

It requested that the Central government remit the collegium’s recommendation in respect of Banerjee’s transfer for new consideration.This was following the process contemplated by Memorandum of Procedure to Transfer of Chief Justice of High Court.

The Supreme Court collegium had recently recommended the transfers of Banerjee to the Meghalaya High Court and Sivagnanam to the Calcutta High Court.Recent recommendations by the Supreme Court collegium were made for the transfer of Banerjee and Sivagnanam from the Meghalaya High Court to the Calcutta High Court.
