‘Yuganiki Okadu’ Sequel Commences Shooting

It was announced last week that the cult classic film ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ (‘Yugaaniki Okkadu‘ in Telugu) will get a sequel with Dhanush in the lead role and it will be directed by Selvaraghavan.While the makers have not yet revealed any more details regarding the film and its cast and crew, Dhanush’s role in the film is being anticipated widely.

The 2010 film ‘Aayirathil Oruvan‘ featured Karthi, Andrea Jeremiah, and Reema Sen in the lead roles.Though the film didn’t perform well at the box office, its fandom grew over the years.

The film’s original version revolved around an archaeologist, a government official, and a travel guide, who were on a quest.During their exploration in a forest, they get trapped in a place with people who fled from the mainland during the Chola Kingdom.

Reema Sen was seen as a cold-blooded villain in the film, while Radhakrishnan Parthiban played a crucial role.Apparently, the sequel will be about the only surviving child from the Cholas, who was later fostered by Karthi in the original version.

It is anticipated that Dhanush will be playing the role of the survived boy.

Now, the film has started the project last night in Chennai as the makers released a picture where director Selvaraghavan observing the scene from the monitor.This is the fourth time that Dhanush is collaborating with Selvaraghavan.They have earlier worked together on films like ‘Kadhal Kondein’, ‘Pudhupettai’ and ‘Mayakkam Enna’.

This project has music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematographer Aravind Krishna.The film will be bankrolled by Kalaipuli S.Thanu.The film is expected to be in pre-production stages in 2022 and will aim for a 2024 release.
