He said the deadline for filing a report was by the 20th of this month. From tomorrow the traditional fishermen can go fishing.

It is said that ring nets can be used after 8 km in the sea.Officials said further action would be taken based on the report of the fishermen’s associations. The minister said Section 144 would be lifted from tomorrow in fishing villages.

A recent dispute between fishermen at sea over the use of ring nets has led to tensions.

To this end, District In-Charge Minister Kursala Kannababu, Fisheries Minister Sidiri Appalaraju, Tourism Minister Avanti Srinivasa Rao and Rajya Sabha member Vijayasaireddy met the leaders of the Fisheries Association at the Visakhapatnam Collectorate office.Opinions were gathered on various topics from both sides.

An explanation was also sought from the authorities on this and the authorities concluded that there was no objection to the traditional fishermen continuing fishing at this stage.

Authorities have also decided that fishermen licensed to use ring nets may continue fishing within 8 km of the coast, but ring net fishermen have expressed concern that they will not be able to catch any fish if they fish within eight kilometers.

The fishermen from both the villages have asked the authorities to allow them to continue fishing in the designated area.Officials have ruled out the possibility of granting such permits legally.
