The union govt has rejected Andhra Pradesh’s contention that all other major projects except those on the Krishna River do not require to be under the purview of the Board.The Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act clarified that all projects should be under the purview of the Board.
The Center has recently written to the Special Principal Secretary, Department of Water Resources of Andhra Pradesh, asking them to keep the Banakacharla Veligodu Gorakallu Reservoir at the bottom of Potireddipadu under the purview of the Board.
According to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, all projects should be under the purview of the Board, the Union Ministry of Water Energy has clarified.
The union govt did not agree with any of the objections raised by the AP on the scope of the Board.
The union govt has clarified that the names of the projects have been included in the Board’s scope notification as per the Reorganization Act, in order to change these, the Reorganization Act needs to be amended.
Finally, the union govt rejected all appeals of the AP state govt.However, it is heard that the state government has decided to take legal action against the union govt’s decision.
