Diamond ores identified in Nalgonda region

Golconda diamonds have been widely advertised in the past but there is no history of diamonds being found in the Golkonda region.But, recent research has recently raised hopes.

The presence of diamonds has been detected at the confluence of the Musi and Krishna rivers in the Nalgonda district.

In the Mahabubnagar district, traces of kimberlites and lamproites, which are mixed ores containing diamonds, are found.

They are found at the confluence of the Bhima and Krishna rivers confluence in the Mahabubnagar district and at the confluence of the Tungabhadra and Krishna rivers in the Gadwal district.

The Krishna River region has a history of finding famous diamonds.The Kohinoor Diamond is one of them.Lamproites are made of volcanic lava.

Although no diamond mining has taken place in the Golconda area so far, diamonds available in the South Indian Diamond Area (SIDP) are treated as Golconda Diamonds.

Professor Ramdas, former head of OU Geophysics, said the survey was conducted in Rangareddy, Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar districts by researchers from the Department of Geology at Osmania University (OU).

He said the presence of diamonds was not found in the Rangareddy district and was found at the confluence of the Musi and Krishna rivers in Nalgonda.He described the areas where Tungabhadra, Bhima and Musi meet the Krishna River as pockets of diamonds.
