In a moment of somber reflection, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy stood before a sea of uniforms at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada, commemorating the bravery of our police force on the solemn occasion of Police Commemoration Day, observed annually on the 21st of November.
During his address, Chief Minister YS Jagan expressed his concerns about the recent surge in trolling directed at judges and the judiciary, particularly in the aftermath of Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest.
He emphasized the need for a respectful and dignified discourse around our judicial system.
This poignant moment invites us to reflect on the evolving narrative surrounding the sanctity of our judiciary.
Not so long ago, a handful of ardent supporters from the ruling YSRCP found themselves entangled in a controversy concerned of trolling the judiciary.Their actions prompted the attention of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh.
When a concerned lawyer brought this trolling to the High Court’s attention, the Court, in its pursuit of justice, requested the CID to investigate the matter.Yet, it was evident that this inquiry fell short of satisfying the High Court’s stringent standards, prompting them to call upon the venerable Central Bureau of Investigation.
This significant turn of events led to the initiation of a series of cases and the subsequent arrests of several individuals involved in the controversy. At that time, staunch party advocates rallied behind them, fervently defending their right to voice their opinions.
They questioned how one could be apprehended for merely expressing their beliefs, especially in the face of setbacks that Chief Minister Jagan experienced within the judicial system.
Fast forward to today, and we witness a noteworthy shift in perspective.
Chief Minister YS Jagan has unequivocally voiced his reservations about the trolling of judges, underlining the importance of preserving the dignity and integrity of the judiciary.
