Sooryavanshi’ is a big-budget entertainer that has Akshay Kumar in the lead role and is directed by Rohit Shetty.This film also has Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn reprising their characters from ‘Simmba’ and ‘Singham’, respectively.
This is the much-awaited film in Bollywood since its announcement and unluckily it has been postponed last year due to the outbreak of the coronavirus and yet again when they were gearing up for a release on April 30th 2021, here comes another shocking news.
Sadly, the film might not be able to release on April 30th, as scheduled, due to the rising COVID positive cases in the country.
The 2nd wave has been quite extreme and cases in Maharashtra especially are at a record high, inching close to the 60,000 mark.Hence, the state government last week decided to impose a night curfew within Maharashtra, from 8:00 pm to 7:00 am.The news comes a day after the film’s lead actor Akshay Kumar tested positive for COVID-19.
Film trade analyst Girish Johar also posted on his social media to inform that the film has been again postponed indefinitely.“Confirmed.#Sooryavanshi postponed indefinitely!!” he wrote.
As per new guidelines made by the Maharashtra government, theatres will remain shut temporarily with effect from April 5th amid a resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state.The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray had a discussion with Rohit Shetty yesterday regarding the same.Keep watching this space for more updates!
