The High Court has instructed the Crime Investigation Department (CID) to submit a counter-affidavit in response to Chandrababus petition, and subsequently, rescheduled the hearing for the 17th of this month.
Chandrababu Naidu took this step after the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court turned down his bail plea in a case initiated by the CID.This particular case involves allegations of financial impropriety in the Skill Development program. In his petition, Chandrababu has vehemently asserted that he is being targeted as an act of political vendetta and implored the court for interim bail until the primary trial concludes.
He contends that his inclusion in the FIR occurred after a span of 22 months, suggesting an unjust and unwarranted arrest.Furthermore, Chandrababus legal counsel has argued against the necessity of custodial interrogation, highlighting that the CID had already taken him into police custody and subjected him to two days of intense questioning.
According to them, the investigative agency has already amassed substantial evidence pertaining to the case. This contention forms a crucial part of their defense strategy.
