Auckland, December 13, 2013 : .Rachin Ravindra, a New Zealand all-rounder described his Test debut in India a’mazing honor’.
His parents were also thrilled to witness him make his debut in India, where he grew up.He made his Test debut against India as a left-arm spin-all-rounder at 22 years old.It was something I thought about a lot. They (my parents) found it quite exciting to see me playing in their country. My country is my home, and I am a Kiwi by nature, having been born in Wellington.Ravindra, SENZ Mornings’ host, said that it was a great experience to represent India against such a talented team.
Ravindra, who batted for 8.4 runs and made 18 runs to end India’s win at Kanpur with Ajaz Patel as their number 11, had a major contribution to the thrilling first Test.
Ravindra caught the ball at mid-on in Mumbai’s second Test.He then took Ajaz Patel to 10 wickets.New Zealand was defeated by New Zealand, 372 runs to the loss.Ravindra had an impressive haul of 3/56.
Ravindra was content to share the dressing room space with Ross Taylor, Kane Williamson and Tim Southee.
It was great to be able to share a dressing area and field with the guys that I admired growing up.Being out there and taking in everything was great. It also made it possible to save a game.
Ravindra, who featured for New Zealand in six T20Is, has set his sights on establishing himself as a genuine all-rounder but is ready to play any role as per the team’s needs.
“I’d do whatever the team would like me to, to be honest. The ultimate goal would be to be a genuine all-rounder.I guess I’m more of a batting all-rounder at the current stage of my career, but I’ll continue two develop both my bowling and batting. In an ideal world, I’d be a genuine all-rounder, but I’ll just take it day by day and keep working hard.”
New Zealand’s next Test assignment will be a two-match series against Bangladesh, starting from January 1 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.
