New Delhi, Sep 3 : The IITs are the envy of the nation the President Draupadi Murmu stated on Saturday, while speaking at the final ceremony of the diamond anniversary celebrations of IIT Delhi here.The President stated that the IITs have demonstrated that the world has the capabilities of India in the areas of technology and education.
“In many ways the history of the IITs tells the tale of Independent India.The IITs have been a major contributor to India’s rise on the international stage.
Faculty and graduates of IITs have demonstrated to the world that we have brains,” she said.
“Some of those who studied in IIT Delhi and in other IITs are in the frontline of the new digital age that is sweeping the globe.
Additionally the influence of IITs extends beyond technology and science.IITians lead in every aspect of life and are leaders in industry, education and business and civil society as well as journalism, activism and literature, as well as political,” President Obama said.
Murmu stated that the most recent instance of IIT’s social repercussions was evident during the first phase of the pandemic.In response to the challenges of fighting the spread of the virus, IIT Delhi initiated important research and development projects.
It created and developed fast antigen test kits PPEs, antimicrobial fabrics, PPEs high-efficiency face masks, and low-cost ventilators, among many other items, she said.
The contribution of IIT Delhi to the fight against Coronavirus in India has served as a model of how institutions of engineering and technology can play a part in the face of a public health crisis, she added.
“By 2047 when we’ll celebrate the 100th anniversary of Independence the world we live in will have drastically changed due to the fourth industrial revolution.As we were in no position twenty years ago to envision the modern world we are unable to imagine the way that artificial intelligence and automation will continue to change the way we live.
“With our population growth it is imperative to be prepared and have strategies in place to take on with the challenges of the future, where disruptions will become the new norm.The nature of work will be completely different,” she pointed out.
The President emphasized that climate change is serious challenges The President stated that, as a country in the process of developing with an extremely large population the energy requirement required for economic growth is high.
“Hence we must switch away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energysources,” the President said.
In his remarks The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that IITs will further inspire our education community in reaching the objectives of “Amrit Kaal”.
He also felicitated IIT Delhi on its illustrious 60 years of travel, and said that the institute played a significant role in helping to advance the nation’s progress.
“It is a source of great pride that several developed countries are showing an interest in establishing and hosting overseas IIT campuses in their respective countries.This is a sign of the power, capability, and the quality of our IITs that are renowned,” Pradhan said.
