High Court has supported the loan waiver scheme that was benefited for farmers.An NGO Lok Seva approached the high court to give a stay on the proposed Loan Waiver to farmers as it will kill the economy with a huge burden.
Petitioner ‘Lokseva’, a society represented by its president M Srinivas Reddy of Ranga Reddy district, submitted that the government’s decision, vide GO 174 dated August 14, 2014, to apply loan waiver scheme to the whole state irrespective of financial status of the people to repay the loan amount would end up crippling the agricultural credit system.
Responding to the petitioner, High Court has given a dressing down to petitioner and asked him not to file such PIL against Farm Loan Waiver which is intended to help the poor farmers.
Court asked not to politicize the issue which benefits the poor farmers.The high court slammed the petitioner and questioned, ‘What is wrong in doing loan waiver for farmers who feed the nation?’.
It said several farmers were ending their lives due to mounting debt burden.It went on to say the crop loan waiver would benefit the poor farmers in a big way.Severely reprimanding the petitioner, it said the taxation was common for both the rich and the poor.the high court decision came as sudden shocker to people who condemning the act of two governments of Telugu states.
It is known that Loan Waiver to farmers is one of the key poll promises of the ruling TDP and TRS parties in both the Telugu States.
