The infighting in the Congress party began after the results of the recent five state elections.The party supremacy, which felt that institutional change was needed in the party, took action.
Key party leaders convened a meeting in Delhi on Saturday on the Congress organizational polls in Ikram.The meeting will be chaired by Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal and will be attended by party general secretaries and state in-charges.
The G-23 leaders, who recently met party chief Sonia Gandhi, made several suggestions while analyzing the defeat in the elections.
The senior leaders suggested giving priority to the youth in the party and handing over the reins to the new working group under the supervision of the superiors.
There has been interest in the Congress ranks over the party’s election plan taking place today in Ikram.
According to party sources, Sonia Gandhi will attend the meeting at the AICC office in Delhi.
The Congress leaders will discuss at length on other political issues, including the organizational elections and the membership registration program.They will also discuss measures to be taken to strengthen the party in the future.
