New Delhi, Aug 5 : Congress parliamentarians, protesting against the government’s policies on the issue of inflation, GST and unemployment, made it to Vijay Chowk close to the Rashtrapati Bhavan and were then detained by the police.Every one of the Congress MPs dress in black to signify their protest.
The police did not allow the protesting lawmakers to go toward the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The MPs were planning to stage an event in front of the home of the President Droupadi Murmu, but the plan was rejected two days ago by Delhi Police and section 144 was in place in the New Delhi district area.
“It is the right of us to have a meeting with the President.This Parliament session was arranged by the President, and if the main purpose of the Parliament session isn’t being fulfilled then it’s our obligation to go to her office,” party leader Pramod Tiwari said.
Congress head Rajiv Shukla said their party’s protest march was blocked by police but they will continue to continue the march and, if needed, make an the police the option of arrest.
