New Delhi, Aug 22 : Representatives of the biggest Techs such as Amazon, Google, Netflix and Microsoft among others, were summoned by the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Finance on Tuesday, to take a stand on the issue of anti-competitive practices employed by tech companies.According to sources the panel, led by BJP MP and former Union minister Jayant Sinha, will hold an event on Tuesday to discuss the issue which has received lots of interest in recent days.
The committee also called representatives of companies that sell online, such as Flipkart as well as taxi and hotel aggregators such as Ola and Oyo respectively to discuss the matter.
The meeting is happening in a time when major players in the technological and digital industry are being accused of engaging in improper business practices.
The calling of representatives of Big Techs by the Parliamentary panel is in the same vein with the previous discussions on the subject, with competitive behaviour in the market for digital goods being the main area of interest.
The panel has discussed the issue with representatives of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) as well as with employees of Indian tech companies on the issue.
