For the past three years, cannabis was frequently seized at the Bhadrachalam Forest check post.Smugglers are continuously trying to smuggle cannabis.

The smugglers are trying new innovative ways to smuggle cannabis.Cracking down cannabis smuggling has become a challenging task for Bhadrachalam police.

On Wednesday, the district SP revealed the details of the smuggling at a media conference in the local police station.

According to the police reports, SI Madhuprasad conducted vehicle inspections at the Forest Department check post under the supervision of Urban CI T Swamy.

While checking the lorry (RJ17GA307), police found loads of cannabis.A total of 1,005 kg of government-banned marijuana worth Rs 2 crores was seized during the inspection.

Police said that the people in the lorry are from the Agar district of Madhya Pradesh.Police said that they were moving the cannabis from the Sileru forest zone to Madhya Pradesh.

The accused confessed to buying cannabis from a man named Waseem from the Odisha area at Sileru and moving it to Ishwar Singh and Prem Singh in Madhya Pradesh.Manuguru ASP Dr Shabarish, Urban CI Swamy, SI Madhuprasad and police personnel attended the press conference.
