DIG (Prisons) Ravi Kiran has affirmed that security measures for Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu at the Central Prison, where he has been in remand since September 10, are thorough and vigilant.
Addressing concerns raised by Naidu in a letter to the ACB court, officials in Rajamahendravaram emphasized that all necessary precautions were being taken, dismissing the purported threat from “Maoists” as unfounded.
Ravi Kiran highlighted the constant surveillance in Naidu’s vicinity, monitored through additional CC cameras and five watch towers surrounding the central prison.He also addressed a recent drone sighting, assuring that it did not breach security.
Regarding alleged threatening letters, Ravi Kiran asserted their inauthenticity, stating that a recent letter attributed to Naidu on social media had not been authenticated by jail authorities.
In light of security concerns, the precise location of Naidu’s accommodation in the Sneha Barrack was withheld.Naidu’s health updates are regularly submitted to the court, and any medical issues are being duly attended to.
SP Jagadish affirmed that strict monitoring and surveillance by police personnel, led by a DSP-level officer, is in effect around the central prison at all times, ensuring the safety of all inmates.
