Its known that Telangan MSO’S imposed ban on TV9 and ABN channels. They are not in a mood to lift the ban despite several requests from media houses and political leaders. Now the issue reached to Rajya Sabha.
Yesterday Telangana congress MP Renuka Chowdary brought the issue of ABN and TV9 channels’ ban in the Rajya Sabha.
Renuka severely condemned the way the TRS govt is showing discrimination against the channels. She mentioned that Telangana government is behaving as a dictator and is not paying heed to the directives of the courts and central government on this issue.
However, TRS MP K Keshava Rao thwarted her speech by thrusting his comments and defending the government. For a while there a huge chaos erupted in Rajya Sabha due to these two MP’s.
Today Telugu Desam Party MP Sujana Chowdary also raised the issue in Rajya Sabha this morning.Sujana told the house that after Telangana Assembly moved a resolution to take action on concerned channels, they were banned in Telangana State.
Sujana requested the House and the Central government to intervene in this matter and safeguard media rights.
It is said that Prime Minister Modi has taken the issue seriously and asked Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar to immediately resolve the issue.
It is worth recollecting that the MSOs in Telangana state banned the telecasting of TV9 and ABN Andhrajyothi channels indefinitely, following a strong warning by the Chief Minister KCR in the state assembly for telecasting the disparaging programs that humiliate the culture of Telangana. After the Assembly admonished the TV channel, the MSOs in Telangana, as a mark of protest, had blocked the two channels from June 16.
