In 2013, the sports drama “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” was released.It was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and centered around the life of the late sporting icon Milkha Singh.

The film starred Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Divya Dutta, Pavan Malhotra, Yograj Singh, and Prakash Raj.

The story of “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” begins with the 1960 Olympics race, where Milkha Singh narrowly missed winning a bronze medal, finishing fourth.

The film takes the audience through his childhood, early struggles, the days of Partition, and concludes with his triumphant race in Pakistan, where he defeated their national hero Abdul Khaliq.After his victory, Milkha Singh earned the nickname “The Flying Sikh” from the then President of Pakistan, General Ayub Khan.
