A gang of nearly 25 persons looted valuables from passengers of Tirupati-Guntur train at Kamalapuram in YSR district late on Friday.

The robbers, who had got into the train with a plan to commit the robbery, stopped the train by pulling the chain in a deserted area around 8:30 p.m near a cement factory.All of the robbers at once targeted the passengers near the windows in the bogies from S1 to S6.

Especially the gold ornaments of women passengers were snatched and fled.Some of the passengers in the train tried to resist but the thugs attacked them.

It is said that the miscreants tried to steal the gold ornaments of four women in the S3 bogie, but three resisted.

The robbers then jumped out of the train and escaped in the darkness.

 Victims lodged their complaints at the Proddatur railway station.

Kadapa railway police inspector Nagarjuna and his team rushed to the spot.

Special teams have been formed to nab the gang.

According to reports, the police who are supposed to patrol this train will not be there from Tirupati to Erraguntla.

The police security will be there from Erraguntla to Guntur.It is suspected that people who know about this matter are involved in this robbery.
