The ruling YSR Congress party(YCP) in Andhra Pradesh has suspended four MLAs for cross-voting in the recently concluded MLC elections, and Dr Undavalli Sridevi, the MLA from Tadikonda, is one of them.
The other three suspended MLAs belong to the dominant Reddy community and all three are from Nellore district.
From the day of their suspension, the YCP social media has been targeting Dr Sridevi more than the other three.
Undavalli Sridevi, a suspended YSR Congress party legislator from Tadikonda assembly constituency, is said to be in a dilemma over her future political plans and which party she should join to sustain her political career.
It is even more shameful that Dr Sridevi’s two daughters have also been subjected to below-the-belt trolling.
Dr Sridevi is a woman, and YCP leaders should maintain certain dignity while making comments against women.
Her daughters are too young to be dragged into politics.Unfortunately, Sridevi and her two daughters are being targeted and trolled in the most irresponsible manner.
Dr Sridevi had challenged the party leaders to prove that she had voted for the TDP and had taken money for her vote.
She said she would pay double the amount that she is alleged to have received from the TDP if anyone could prove it.
On the other hand, The YCP leadership believes that Sridevi would obviously defect to the Telugu Desam Party as she had voted for the TDP candidate in the MLC elections. She also indicated her support for Amaravati farmers, which reinforces this belief.
However, according to the latest reports, Sridevi is contemplating to join the Jana Sena Party headed by power star Pawan Kalyan. She is reported to have sent feelers to the Jana Sena Party leadership to that effect.
Sources suggest that Sridevi has made this decision based on the reports of an alliance between the TDP and Jana Sena.As part of the seat-sharing understanding, Tadikonda might be allocated to Jana Sena.
Tadikonda has a significant number of around 15,000 Kapu votes despite being a reserved constituency. In the last elections in 2019, Sridevi struggled to appeal to the Kapu vote bank and could only garner 10,000 Kapu votes.
Winning by a margin of around 4,000 votes.
If Sridevi joins the Jana Sena, there is every possibility that she might secure a good number of Kapu votes, as the YCP is unlikely to get many.
However, the problem is that Sridevi had been strongly attacking the Jana Sena Party and Pawan Kalyan all these days. She even went to the extent of calling Pawan Kalyan a part-time politician, who has no base among the people.
