Sydney 13 September, Sydney : Authorities in New South Wales on Tuesday issued an alert to the public health alert following measles cases were reported in the Australia for the first time since February , 2020.The patient contracted the infection while traveling in Asia in the last month.

Measles can transmitted in the air by coughing or sneezing of those who are carrying the disease.
The NSW Health said people who have not received two doses of measles vaccine, have a established history of measles or have a weak immune system are deemed to be at risk of contracting measles.
“This incident underscores the importance of making sure that all persons who are vaccination-free have had two doses of measles vaccination, particularly prior to traveling abroad because measles outbreaks are taking place in various areas of the world today,” said Executive Director of Health Protection of NSW Jeremy McAnulty.
The health authorities also provided measles vaccine for free to anyone born in or after 1966 and who has not received two doses of measles vaccine.
