A counter-offensive launched by Ukrainian troops has seen them advance to 30 miles of the border, with reports of ‘panicked’ Russian troops have retreated from tanks, weapons, and supplies.

There are reports from a few sources that Russian soldiers have “literally fled from their posts” and even left their clothes behind in the process of fleeing the advance of the Ukrainian army in the Kharkiv Oblast in north-east of the country, Daily Mail reported.

It occurred as Ukrainian soldiers began to advance into the eastern part of the country in an effort that has seen them seize more than 1000 square miles of territory in just a couple of few days in an amount of duration that may be an important pivotal moment in the conflict.

The move came following an extensive Ukrainian disinformation campaign regarding the possibility of a counter-offensive in the south, which was successful in redirecting Russian troops in the direction of this region, making the north east more vulnerable to attacks Daily Mail reported.

The major advancement in the region began just six days ago and is forcing Moscow to pull its troops out to avoid them being at risk of being surrounded.

According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Lieutenant General Berdnikov was appointed the commander of the Western Armed Forces on August 26.

However, it appears that the period he served in charge was not long-lasting, with Ukrainian intelligence saying he was dismissed by Putin due to the debacle in Kharkiv. There is any confirmation from the Kremlin on this.

This was after unconfirmed news reports in the month of June, that he was killed in the fighting in the Donbas region of Ukraine.

While Russian troops desperately tried to escape oncoming forces in recent days, one Ukrainian unit claimed the chain of command was damaged and Kremlin troops were escaping without even trying to fight against them, Daily Mail reported.
