St Lucia, Sep 12 : Saint Lucia Kings kept their Hero CPL hopes alive with a dominant victory against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.The Patriots decided to field first following they won the toss.
The decision appeared to have paid off as Johnson Charles and Faf Du Plessis put up a dazzling opening team that posted the highest score of 61 runs in the PowerPlay.
They scored 85 for their first wicket prior to Charles was dismissed in the ninth over.
His 41 runs included four sixes and two fours.The Lucia Kings faltered after losing nine wickets in 75 runs.
They scored 161 for nine which was a difficult total.Matthew Forde made sure that the Kings could achieve an even score of 161.
However the Patriots started off with poor starting in the PowerPlay losing three wickets and 48 runs.They didn’t recover from this position.
The Lucia Kings blew them away with an impressive performance in the field.Leading in the field was Tim David with a CPL record that equals five catch in the outfield.
The Patriots were in deep trouble early on.Forde broke through the top three and left the Patriots in chaos.After that, the Patriots did not form any kind of partnership as their top three players kept struggling.
When Alzarri Joseph sacked Darren Bravo for 20 to leave the Patriots with 81-for-six at the time, the final score was in sight and the Patriots were beaten by 100.
Brief scores: St Lucia 161/9 in 20 overs (Johnson Charles 40, Faf du Plessis 61, Dwaine Pretorius 3/37, Rashid Khan 2/12, Sheldon Cottrell 241) defeated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 100 all out in 19 overs (Evin Lewis 24, Darren Bravo 20, Matthew Forde 3/19, David Wiese 3/17) by 61 runs.
