6.2-magnitude quake jolts Indonesia, no potential for tsunami

Jakarta 10th of September : A huge earthquake of 6.2 on the Richter scale rattled the eastern province of Indonesia of Papua on the weekend, however it it did not likely trigger an earthquake the country’s meteorology agency said.
The earthquake is classified as the primary shock following a series of foreshocks with dimensions of 6.0, 5.9 and 5.5 affected the province a few minutes prior, Xinhua news quoted the agency as saying.

The primary shock hit around 7.05 a.m.with the epicentre located at 37 km northwest of Memberamo Tengah district and the depth of 10 km beneath the earth, it stated.

The earthquake was not believed to have the potential to cause an earthquake as per the agency.

There is no immediate information regarding any injuries or casualties.
