New Delhi, Sep 9 : A total of 76 start-ups have joined the ‘Indian Water Pitch-Pilot-Scale Startup Challenge which is run through the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA).The start-ups that have been shortlisted will receive financial assistance of up to 20 lakh to each work in the areas of water supply and used water management water body rejuvenation, ground water management, etc.The announcement was made by Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
The start-ups have been selected by the Ministry through a competition process that was launched in March 2022 under the AMRUT 2.0 Mission.A “Startup Gateway was also established where startups are able to apply and be selected by MoHUA to receive financial assistance.
At the event, the Ministry also launched a toolkit for Pey Jal Survekshan in 485 cities.
Pey Jal Survekshan, under the Jal Jeevan Mission, will evaluate cities with regard to the quality of water and the quality of water delivery to residents and the public, along with septage management, sewerage grievance resolution water body conservation ground water management etc.
The event also saw the ceremony of the awarding of the 25 top images from the photography contest of MoHUA.MoHUA, with an award of Rs 10,000 each.
The competition was organized by students from the Ministry under the ‘Mission Amrit Sarovar to raise awareness among the masses on the importance of conserving of lakes and rivers.
In the course of the event during the event, a website Urban Waterbody Information System (UWaIS) was also launched with assistance from the National Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad.
