London 9th September : London, Sep 9 : day of game in the final test between England and South Africa on Friday has been cancelled due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.The opening day’s game on Thursday in the final Test was washed out.South Africa had won the opening Test at Lord’s by 12 runs and an innings while England was able to come back to take the Old Trafford Test by an 85 runs and an innings to even the series.
After the death of the Queen The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Chair Richard Thompson had said, “I’m sure I’m speaking for everyone in the sport when I say how sad I am of the passing of the Queen.
Her Majesty was an incredible fan of the sport and always spoke of her husband’s and late wife’s joy of the game.
“Her commitment to her nation will not be forgotten.For her sacrifice and selflessness during her remarkable time in office we are owed a debt that will never be paid back.”
The third Test match between these two teams is the last and decisive match of the vital ICC World Test Championship.South Africa had lost their top position in the WTC Rankings after the loss to England in the second Test.
England is, in contrast, is 7th in the standings, after six wins and eight losses.
Australia is at the highest of the list with winning percentage of 70 according to ICC.
