Panaji 8 September : Panaji, Sep 8 : Goa Forward Party on Thursday demanded that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant resign as home minister of the state until the investigation into Sonali Phogat’s death is concluded by the central agency. “Sonali Phogat’s family as well as daughter deserve justice, but the state police will not be able to help because they’re under pressure” Goa Forward Party President and MLA Vijai Sardesai said.
Sardesai said it was a negligent statement made by Pramod Sawant, who claimed that Phogat died from cardiac arrest.”Haryana BJP and the Chief Minister have questioned the investigation conducted by the Goa Police and they have requested an CBI investigation.This is due to the fact that Goa CM had given certificate that the’murder’ was due to an attack on the heart,” Sardesai said.
Goa BJP government has come under fire following the demise of TikTok celebrity Sonali Phogat to whom alleged Methamphetamine drugs were administered.
Phogat arrived in Goa on the 22nd of August and was staying in an hotel in Anjuna.She began to feel uneasy at night and the next day she was admitted to the private hospital in Anjuna where she was declared to death.
Sardesai declared that the BJP has not been able to formulate policies, to police and providing direction to the state, and the sufferers.
He was unsure if the Chief Minister came be aware of the smuggling of drugs until in the wake of the death of Sonali Phogat.
“Chief Minister did not have an answer when a reporter asked him how drugs get into the state.Everybody in Goa knows how drugs get here.
Without protection from the government and political support, this trade cannot grow,” he said.
Sardesai stated that some time ago there was a report presented in the Goa Assembly in regards to the police-police-drug mafia relationship.
“Earlier, the Goa Assembly constituted a committee to study the ‘politician-police-drug mafia nexus’.A huge report was presented in the Assembly at the time.
Pramod Sawant is an elected Member of the same House Isn’t he conscious of it? Does this trade take place without the involvement of the ruling party’s members?” he questioned.
In a rant at the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Fatorda MLA Sardesai said he was working trying to keep his chair.”He is going to the homes of the ministers he is is giving them certificates that state they aren’t corrupt.Ministers in the cabinet that told the public that a minister who was in charge had sold jobs.
Was the Chief Minister not of the state aware of it?” Sardesai questioned.
“In these days, law and order has been shattered because the Chief Minister is creating the opposition’s “Mukt” Goa.He is trying to recruit eight Congress MLAs to accomplish this objective.He is in the contest,” Sardesai said.
