Kanyakumari 7 September : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will announce the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” on Wednesday.
Before launching the massive rally the former Congress chief will participate in an impromptu prayer gathering at the former President Rajiv Gandhi’s monument in Tamil Nadu’s Sriperumbudur.

After that, he will arrive Kanyakumari and visit Thiruvalluvar Memorial Vivekananda Memorial and to Kamraj Memorial.There will also be a prayer gathering in the Mahatama Gandhi Mandapam, following which, Rahul Gandhi will launch the Yatra in presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot among others.

Three Chief Ministers will be handing over the flag of their nation to the participants of the march, which is scheduled to go through 12 states and travel 3,500 kilometers between Kanyakumari through Jammu and Kashmir in five months (150 days).A total of 118 chiefs will take part in the event.

According to one Congress head, the reason of the march with the national flag is that the party is looking for other like-minded groups and civil society organizations to join in the march.

In advance of the march planned, Rahul Gandhi on Sunday declared that the government has blocked all routes and that opposition parties have no choice other than to reach out to the people of the country.

The yatra is scheduled to reach Kerala on the 11th of September and will stay there for 18 more days before getting to Karnataka on September 30.The journey will remain in Karnataka for 21 days.

The Congress has stated that the padyatra aims at in eradicating hatred.

The preliminary list of leaders who will take part in the yatra is Congress Youth leader Kanhaiya Kumar, Pawan Khera and former Punjab Minister Vijay Inder Singla among others.
