Western sanctions trigger price hikes for energy and disruptions to supply: Russian Energy Minister

Moscow 3rd of September : The restrictions unilaterally Western nations have put in place on Russia have led to disruptions in the supply of energy and price hikes across the globe, Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said.
In the G20 ministerial session on energy transition on Friday he stated that the present energy crisis was hindering the attainment of sustainable development goals, especially in the area of ensuring cheap and reliable energy to everyone.

Shulginov said that it will only be possible to end the crisis by removing the root causes of the problem, and this would mean the restoration of energy supply chains and creating an appropriate climate and energy policy, Xinhua news agency reported.

The Group of Seven (G7) Finance Ministers voted to set a price limit on Russian oil in the wake of the meeting on Friday.

Russian Vice-Prime Minister Alexander Novak on Thursday called the G7’s proposal to introduce an upper limit on the price of Russian oil as completely absurd.

Novak declared that Russia will not supply petroleum products or oil to countries that have price caps for Russian oil, since Russia is not planning to provide oil in non-market conditions.
