AP CM pays tributes to father and former CM on the anniversary of his death

Amaravati, September 2 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with his family members, paid tributes to the former chief minister of the state that was undivided Dr Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy on the occasion of his 13th anniversary of death.
The chief minister took part in an assembly of prayer and paid tributes in flowers on the YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya in YSR Cudappah district on Friday.

His mother Y.S.Vijayamma and wife Bharathi Reddy and relatives, well-wishers and leaders of the party were among those at the prayer session.

In a tweet, the chief minister tweeted: “Though (my) father has passed away physically, his bright smile and (fond) memories are with us.He redefined welfare for the very first time in the country and demonstrated that (fulfilling) people’s aspirations is the primary goal of governance.This Government is continuing in his steps in the spirit of.”

Dr.Rajasekhar Reddy was an undisputed Congress leader of the unincorporated state of Andhra Pradesh and led the Congress to victories in the state in 2004 and elections in 2009.

The Congress sweep in Andhra Pradesh during these two elections was a contributing factor in significant part to the party’s success at the Centre from 2004 to 2014.

But, he could not complete his second term as chief minister since he suffered a fatal injury in an accident in a helicopter.

When the Congress high command did not take him into consideration for the position of chief minister in the wake of the death of his father’s passing, Jagan Reddy formed the YSRCP and took over the government in the 2019 Assembly elections in the state of residuary of Andhra Pradesh.
