New Delhi, Sep 1 : Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has clarified on Thursday his motive for meeting former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.Prithviraj Chavan, Anand Sharma and Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday a meeting with Azad who has quit the party and is expected to hold his first public gathering in Jammu on the 4th of September.
In as a “courtesy” telephone call, Hooda said they all had a meeting because they were party members for a number of years and had raised questions about polls for the party.
“We asked him to explain why he quit after his demands were satisfied,” he stated.
The procedure of determining the Congress President’s election has come under the spotlight after a few politicians have questioned the lack of availability of electoral rolls in the public domain.
Two Congress leaders, Manish Tewari and Karti Chidambaram, on Wednesday asked the Central Election Authority, headed by Madhusudan Mistry to release the electoral rolls and accessible through the Congress website.
However the CEA said that the rolls will be made available to candidates running in elections.
Tewari as well as Karti Chidambaram had expressed concerns about the way in the manner in which the presidential election in the party was conducted.
In a tweet, Chidambaram stated: “Every election needs a clearly defined and clear electoral college.The procedure of the process of forming the electoral college must be clear, well-defined and transparent.An ad-hoc electoral college is not an electoral college.”
Anandpur Sahib MP Tewari too has raised doubts about the rolls of voters ahead of the presidential election of the party in which he said that the rolls should be disclosed to ensure a fair and free elections.
