New Delhi, Sep 1 : Mumbai customers ordered condoms at Swiggy Instamart 570 times more in the last twelve months than in the year prior the 10-minute grocery delivery is becoming popular in Metro cities as the food delivery service has disclosed.The service for quick-commerce Instamart has grown by 16x in the last year with eggs, condoms, sanitary napkins , and tampons currently receiving the highest volume of orders.
Customers in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Chennai are the biggest users of the app.
The cities also saw the highest demand for distress items such as sanitary napkins, menstrual cups, tampons and sanitary napkins (Close to 2 million units purchased in the last year) and band-aids (45,000 boxes).
In the summer peak of from April through June, the demand for Ice cream in these cities increased by 42 percent, and the majority of orders were made later than 10 p.m.
“Consumers also purchased more than 5.6 million packs of instant noodles.With temperatures hitting the all-time record in Hyderabad in this summer months, customers purchased nearly 27,000+ bottles of fresh juice,” Instamart said.
Another product that has seen demand shoot up in the last two years are eggs with 50 million orders.
Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai each placed on average of six million eggs orders per day in the last year.
Breakfast time was the time when Bengaluru and Hyderabad customers placed orders for the highest quantity of eggs.30 million orders for a breakfast staple — milk were put on the app with Bangalore and Mumbai being the top choices for breakfast.
Bengaluru also served the highest amount of dairy alternatives such as soy and Oat milk.
Incredibly, pre-cooked versions of Poha as well as Upma, Indian breakfast classics were popular for meals in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi.
More than 2 lakh orders of scrub pads, bathroom cleaners drain cleaners, and many more items were made in the last year, according to Swiggy.
