Kolkata 29 Aug : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has threatened to initiate legal proceedings against officials of central agencies posted in West Bengal if the Union government doesn’t stop harassing bureaucrats as well as police service officers of the state.
Recently the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been summoned and interrogated a number of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the state government in connection with the ongoing investigation of the central agency regarding the coal smuggling fraud.

“I am aware of the work of the CBI and the ED.These agencies employ a lot of excellent people.They are honest.But at the same we also have evidence regarding the involvement of certain of the officials of central agencies in corruption.

If the officials who are from West Bengal are harassed in New Delhi, we will also pursue legal action against these corrupt officials of the central agency,” Banerjee said at an event.

In the context of the subsequent rulings of the Calcutta High Court going against the state government The Chief Minister made a subtle reference to the judiciary system.”I would like the judiciary system to work for the benefit of the people of the nation.Nothing else is required when the judiciary of the country is functioning in an orderly manner,” she said.

She also attacked media.”The media houses are conducting in parallel trials of media and are working on behalf of the BJP.Therefore, I urge people not to trust what the media houses’ statements,” she said.
