Kremlin prepares for Referenda to annex parts of Ukraine

Moscow 29 Aug : Russia appears to be laying the foundations to annex occupied parts of Ukraine through the holding of referendums.
Kremlin official Sergei Kiriyenko cited recent surveys on Sunday that showed the support in the eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk which is collectively referred to as Donbas, for a possible joining Russia can range from 91 and 92 percent according to dpa news agency.

In the regions recently conquered of Kherson and Zaporizhzhya, Kiriyenko said the level of support was between 75 percent and 77 percent.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has routinely said that if the population expressed support for joining his country, the Kremlin would react.

But, Russia is not in total control of all the regions it suggests could be annexed.

Ukraine is in control of large portions of Donetsk and has made hints at an offensive counter-insurgency in Kherson.

On Sunday the Ukrainian army’s Operational Command South said they have attacked three Russian command posts as well as at most two ammunition depots in Kherson.

The Command stated that their troops killed eleven Russian soldiers, destroyed three rocket launchers, 11 rockets armored vehicles and a self-propelled self-propelled howitzer.
