Islamabad 28 Aug : While flash floods and rivers that overflow create destruction across Pakistan preliminary estimates indicate that the nation has suffered losses of $5.5 billion local media reported.In Sindh and Punjab provinces the cotton and sugarcane crops have been completely destroyed and tomato, onion and Kharif chilies have also been damaged in part.The damage of cotton alone is valued to be $2.6 billion.Experts believe that Pakistan’s textile and sugar exports could fall by $1 billion.
At two million tons of wheat stored in the warehouses of the government in Sindh are damaged due to floods and rains which are that could threaten the nation’s security of food, Samaa TV reported.
The loss of production in the agricultural sector means that Pakistan will not just face an insufficient supply of industrial products but also an outbreak of seeds in Pakistan.
Officials estimate that more than 8,00,000 head of cattle has been lost to floods and rains this season.
The floods also destroyed communications and roads in four provinces.

The damage sustained by the under construction Mohmand dam and headworks at different sites has contributed to flood damage.
