Dubai 27 August : The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday confirmed that Disney Star will remain the home of all ICC cricket matches in India over the next four years following it was awarded the digital and television rights of both women’s and men’s global tournaments until 2027.of 2027.In the past, in June, Disney Star had reclaimed the Indian Premier League (IPL) TV rights for INR 23,575 crore (which amounts up to 57.5 million per game).Disney Star also owns the ICC media rights for the 2015-23 period which is widely regarded in the marketplace as being the second most lucrative rights in cricket, after IPL.
The ICC further added that Disney Star emerged as the winner of a single round sealed bid procedure on Friday which resulted in a significant increase in the rights fee from the previous cycle, continuing the remarkable expansion and the reach of cricket.
The ICC also stated that the decision was based on an extensive bidding, tendering and evaluation process that began in June 2022, however the ICC did not reveal the amount of the winning bid submitted by Disney Star which decided the outcome in their favor.
