New Delhi, Aug 25 : Former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris believes that India are able to take on and win over any team in the forthcoming Asia Cup, including arch-rivals Pakistan.

India taking part as the defending champions after winning the competition in the format 50-over in the year 2018 in the UAE and in the T20I format in 2016 in Bangladesh.

Styris stated that not being imposing on themselves in the beginning of the Men’s T20 World Cup last year was a mistake that cost India games against Pakistan and New Zealand.”Well we all already know, India has a very robust T20 league, too. It’s the ability to play together and choose the style and style of cricket that is best suited to the players you have.”

“I believed that this was the most important thing that India failed to do at the previous T20 World Cup as it took them around two games. Two losses they suffered before they began to take on the opposition, and impose themselves with the ability and talent that they have,” said the former Blackcaps all-rounder on the ‘Sports Over The Top’ on Sports18.

After last year’s T20 World Cup, where they fell in the Super 10 stage, India have seen a resurgence of fortunes with Rohit Sharma as the captain for full-time as well as Rahul Dravid as their head coach with a new offensive method with the bat, which resulted in taking six of their seven bilateral T20I series, with the exception of one with South Africa, which was divided 2-2 after rain destroyed the final in Bengaluru in the month of June.

“I would like to see India perform this in this Asia Cup.I want them to assert their own team on other teams, and they’re able to do it.I believe they have the ability to take down everyone even Pakistan, in this Asia Cup.If they enter this tournament with this mediocre attitude of the way they’d like to approach their game I don’t believe it’s going to happen.”

“I believe that’s the place the area where Pakistan have come up with a more. They’ve certainly had a fantastic T20 match but the same goes for India.I don’t believe that’s going to be a major moment or a factor in this game,” concluded Styris.
