Mumbai 24 Aug : The world of OTT is producing new content at rapid speed.Every day, a brand new web film or series is released or is scheduled to be released on the one OTT platform or another.As August is nearing its conclusion, IANS takes a look at some of the highly anticipated web series set to premiere in the next few days on various platforms.
Maharani 2 25 August (SonyLIV)
The first show to appear on the OTT platform is the second season of the Huma Qureshi-starring political drama “Maharani”.
The multi-season drama is an untrue story that is influenced by the political turmoil in Bihar in the early 1990s, when then Chief Minister Lalu Prasad made his homemaker wife Rabri Devi his successor.
The second season of the show, which will see Huma playing the main actor of Rani Bharti The second season will be a story of Bheema Bharti (played by Sohum Shah) coming out of prison, and fighting with his wife Rani in the pursuit of power.
Criminal Justice 3: August 26 (Disney+ Hotstar)
“Criminal Justice” is one of the most adored Indian show in the OTT space.The upcoming season will feature Pankaj Tripathi reprising his role as advocate Madhav Mishra who is battling the most difficult trial of his professional career.
He will be fighting in the courtroom with the assistant public prosecutor Lekha which is played by Shweta Basu Prasad.
Delhi Crime 2: August 26 (Netflix)
The third item on the list is the second series of the hugely popular police drama “Delhi Crime,” which is the third season of the show.The initial season of the Richie Mehta-directed show focused on the aftermath of the 2012 Delhi Gang-Rape that shook the morality of the nation and prompted the Parliament to adopt the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2013 (Nirbhaya Act) which strengthened the provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Indian Evidence Act as well as the Code of Criminal Procedure with regards to sexual offences.
The initial season of the show was nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series.
The second season of the series, which focuses on the murders committed by Delhi’s notorious ‘kachchha-banyan’ gang includes the powerful Shefali Shah.Rasika Dugal Rajesh Tailang Adil Hussain Anurag Arora Yashaswini Dayama, Sidharth Bhhardwaj Gopal Dutt Denzil Smith, Tillotama Home, Jatin Goswami, Vyom Yadav and Ankit Sharma.
Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives Season 2 September 2 (Netflix)
The show, believed to be influenced by the popular series “The Real Housewives” is based on the professional and personal life of Neelam Kothari Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey and Seema Khan wives of Bollywood actors Samir Soni, Sanjay Kapoor, Chunky Panday and Sohail Khan, respectively.
Lord Of The Rings: Rings Of Power – September 2 (Prime Video)
The final program on this list is the adaptation for the series of the cult trilogy ‘Lord of the Rings’.The show’s title is ‘Lord of the Rings: The Rings Of Power The series brings to the screen the mythical tales of the mythical Second Age of Middle-Earth’s history.
The epic epic unfolds thousands of years prior to the events of J.R.R.Tolkien’s The Hobbit’s and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ novels and promises to transport viewers back to a time in where kingdoms were ablaze with glory and fell into ruin with unlikely heroes being challenged.
