Ottawa 24 August : Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced new sanctions against Russia.In a press release posted on the official website of the Prime Minister, Trudeau said on Tuesday that Canada is imposing new rules on close friends of the Russian government as well as a defence sector company, Xinhua news agency reported.
The people sanctioned include top-ranking Russian government officials as well as Russian governors from the federal government and regional chiefs, their relatives and the top officials of currently sanctioned entities in the defence sector as per the release.
The Prime Minister announced the the allocation of funds to two Ukraine projects under the Peace and Stabilization Operations Program to provide additional assistance to the Ukrainian security sector’s institutions.
Since February 24 , Canada has imposed sanctions on more than 1,300 people and entities that originate from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
