New Delhi, Aug 23 : In its ongoing rant against AAP over “excise policy fraud” and “excise policy scam,” the BJP on Tuesday claimed it was the Delhi government had not heeded the its own recommendations of an expert panel as well as the excise policy.
Participating in a press conference with Lok Sabha member Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma at the party’s headquarters in this town, BJP national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Sudhanshu Trivedi stated that the Delhi Excise Policy says that retailers, producers and distributors of liquor are not the same However, the policy was not observed.

“Accordingly to Delhi excise law also states that there can’t be common shareholders or directors,” Trivedi said.

He said that, on the night of October 25 2021, the Delhi excise department brought a number of cases of common retailers, producers and distributors to notice of the government, but the government did not take action.

BJP Lok Sabha member from West Delhi Verma said that an expert committee has recommended against promotions to increase sales of liquor, but the Delhi government has started to give an empty carton for free with every single carton sold.

Verma stated that the expert committee also recommended following the Karnataka model, where the government is accountable for wholesale business, and also that no person can be granted more than one license.

“The expert committee also urged against the opening of liquor vending outlets in non-conforming areas with no commercial markets.However, the Delhi government has not heeded all these recommendations,” Verma alleged.
