Lahore on the 22nd of August : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced in young right-arm pace-bowler Mohammad Hasnain to replace Shaheen Afridi in the 15-member squad for the T20 Asia Cup 2022, which starts in the UAE on the 27th of August.Afridi was disqualified of the tournament following being given a 4-6 week rest period by his medical team due to an injury to his right knee ligament.
He is also exempted of the home seven-match T20I series against England that will begin on September 20 and run until October 2.
Afridi is scheduled to resume the game in October with the T20I tri-series in New Zealand, also featuring Bangladesh as the third team which will be followed by ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia in October and November.
Hasnain has been cleared to take the bowl in international cricket after an independent review of his actions at the ICC-accredited center in Lahore.He was cited for an unconfirmed action during a time with the Sydney Thunder in Australia’s Big Bash Twenty20 league in the last season.
He was then banned from bowling following biomechanical tests that confirmed that his actions were illegal.
