New Delhi, Aug 19 : The entire day-long search conducted of the CBI at the residence of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with the row over the excise policy ended at 10:36 p.m.on Friday.According to sources, CBI officials have seized the phone as well as the computer of Sisodia along with certain documents, at the conclusion of the search operation , which began on Friday morning.
The CBI teams conducted raids at 21 locations in seven states in connection with the allegations of irregularities in Delhi’s latest excise policy.
The CBI has named 16 people in the FIR with Sisodia being the first.1 accused.The FIR was lodged in accordance with Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 477-A (falsification of accounts) of the Indian Penal Code.
The allegations against Sisodia state that businessmen who deal in liquor were granted exemption of 30 crore rupees, and licence holders were allegedly granted extensions according to their own wishes.
It also stated that Sisodia and a few barons were in in managing and diverting improperly earned profit from licensees of liquor to public officials, who were later to be charged in this case.
“Manish Sisodia was the Vice Chief Minister of Delhi, Arva Gopi Krishna, the Commissioner (Excise), Anand Tiwari, the then Deputy Commissioner (Excise) as well as Pankaj Bhatnagar, Assistant Commissioner (Excise) were key in making recommendations and taking decisions regarding the excise policy for 2021-22 without the approval of the competent authority with the intention of extending unfair favors to licencees after tenders,” read the FIR that was accessed by IANS.
