Seoul 19th August : The powerful sister of North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un has slammed South Korea’s recent offer of economic aid to Pyongyang in exchange for denuclearisation, calling it an “absurd dream”.South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol who has been in office for three months, stated on Wednesday South Korea was ready to assist its neighbor in the event that North Korea showed determination to disarm.
He said Seoul will not need “complete denuclearisation before we can do anything”.
Kim Jong Un’s mother Kim Yo Jong called Yoon’s speech “nonsense,” “ridiculous” and “pipedream-like remarks” in a press statement that reads “Don’t believe in an absurd fantasy” released by the state media on Friday.
“The plan he has laid out this time is completely ridiculous,” said the senior official of the Workers’ Party in an interview on Thursday, the dpa news agency reported.
“No one is willing to trade their destiny to get the corn cake.”
Kim Yo Jong also acknowledged that she witnessed a missile test on Wednesday, but she claimed that South Korean and US information regarding its location was incorrect.
Seoul announced that North Korea launched two suspected guided missiles in the direction of the Yellow Sea as Yoon made his remarks.
UN resolutions ban North Korea from testing ballistic missiles.They, based on their design may include nuclear warheads.
Testing of cruise missiles however, are not considered to be a violation of sanctions against the largely uninvolved country.
Pyongyang is under severe international sanctions as a result of its nuclear weapons program.
