Mumbai 18 August : Veteran actress Reena Roy has recalled the story of how she spoke to late actress Rishi Kapoor the concept of “thumkas” that were exclusively intended for women. Reena was featured on the reality show Superstar Singer 2 as an extra.
The contestants honored the 1970’s diva with an ‘Reena Roy special episode.
Contestant Aryananda R.Babu (from Calicut) left Reena amazed with an impressive performance of the songs ‘Mere Sanson Ko Jo Mehaka Rahi Hai” and ‘Sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho’.
Reminiscing, Reena rides back to her filming days with Aryananda’s voice and shares an interesting story about her time working with the legendary actor Rishi Kapoor.
With back-to-back smashes, Reena Roy was amongst the most famous actors of her time.Judge Himesh Reshammiya will be asking Reena Roy about her experience working with the legendary actor with whom she has performed many of her most famous performances.
In memory of Rishi Kapoor the actor Reena Roy revealed: “Rishi Kapoor was very committed to his work.When he was on set he would desire perfection in everything whether it was dancing or acting.
“If something doesn’t go according to plan, he is very angry.I can still recall the time when we made the “Kya Naam Hain Tera” song, in which there was one stage that was a bit complicated.
“He was unable to keep up with the pace at which he became so upset that he stood in an angle and didn’t speak with anyone.”
She said: “Even the producer and director did not understand the situation, so I went towards him and explained that thumkas are to be worn by women and not intended for men and he is not required to worry about those steps.After that, he was at ease.I am very happy that we share so many great memories of our time together that I’ll treasure for the rest of my life”.
