London 15 August, London : English journalist and author Nicholas Evans, popularly known for his work on ‘The Horse Whisperer that was later made into film by Robert Redford, passed away after suffering a heart attack, aged 72, according to Variety, quoting a statement released by United Agents.The agency announced that the “much-loved” author was died after suffering an attack of the heart on the 9th of August.”He lived an active and joyful life in his house near the banks of the River Dart in Devon,” the statement reads.
The novel by author Chris Evans in 1995 The Horse Whisperer, published in 1995, has sold over 20 million copies across the globe and was the top bestseller in 20 countries.
The novel was translated into over 40 languages.
The film from 1998, directed by and directed by Redford and starring Redford along with Scarlett Johansson, Kristin Scott Thomas and Sam Neill, according to “Variety”.
The idea for ‘The horse Whisperer’ came in 1993, when Evans met the blacksmith in the south-west of England who shared with him about the horse whisperers, who possess the ability of helping horses heal from trauma by talking to them.
Evans was born in 1950 in Worcestershire and went on to study Law at Oxford.
In the 1970s, he worked as a journalist, focusing on U.S.politics and foreign issues, and also was a reporter covering the conflict in Beirut.
In the early 1980s, he worked at London Weekend Television and also produced films about Laurence Olivier, Francis Bacon and David Hockney for ‘The South Bank Show’.The film he made about David Lean led to the legendary filmmaker becoming his mentor.
Evans’ credits as screenwriter and producer include ‘Murder By the Book”as well as ‘Act of Betrayal” as well as ‘Secret Weapon’ “Just Like a Woman”.
He also wrote the best-selling novel ‘The Loop’ The Smoke Jumper The Divide’ as well as The Brave.
