Dubai 11 August : Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, Dasun Shanaka, Ollie Pope and Fazalhaq Farooqi, on Thursday, were announced as new players in the Marquee Players List of the inaugural edition of ILT20 which will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in January and February next year. “Our team is always amazed with the level of talent who have committed to playing in the ILT20.We are thrilled to discover that the roster of Marquee players increase in the quality of their performances, as is evident in our latest announcement and we are ecstatic to see the newest, exciting talent join experienced players from the world of cricket.” declared Mubashshir Usmani the General Secretary of Emirates Cricket.
On Monday, earlier, Moeen Ali, Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn, Wanindu Hasaranga and Shimron Hetmyer, Chris Jordan, Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Andre Russell, Dawid Malan, Evin Lewis, Fabien Allen, Sam Billings, Tom Curran, Dushmantha Chameera, Akeal Hosein, Tom Banton, Sandeep Lamichhane, Rovman Powell and Bhanuka Rajapaksa are listed in the initial list of marquee players.
Pollard who has retired from international cricket in the spring of this year, has recently became the first player to play 600 caps in T20 cricket.
In addition to playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022, he is currently turning out for London Spirit in The Hundred and is also registered to play in the draft in the Big Bash League (BBL).
Bravo who has was a retired international cricketer following the last T20 World Cup in the UAE Bravo has also registered to play in the BBL draft scheduled to take place in the later part in the year.
He has been playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022.He also represented Worcestershire in Vitality T20 Blast and is currently playing for Northern Superchargers in the Hundred.
Pooran is now the captain of West Indies in white-ball cricket and has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022 alongside Farooqui left-arm pacer from Afghanistan.Shanaka is Sri Lanka’s white ball captain.
Pope is regarded as an essential player in England’s Test batting line-up.
A different list of players announced by ILT20 includes Will Smeed, Rehan Ahmed, Jordan Thompson, Sheldon Cottrell, Andre Fletcher, Tom Kohler-Cadmore Bas de Leede Chris Benjamin, and Bilal Khan.
The debut ILT20 season of ILT20 will take place in 34 matches across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.Six teams in the league are owned by Reliance Industries Limited (franchise name as MI Emirates), Lancer Capital and the GMR Group (franchise name as Dubai Capitals), Adani Sportsline (franchise name as Gulf Giants), Knight Riders Group (franchise name is Abu Dhabi Knight Riders) and Capri Global.
